50-Year Anniversary of Florida Women’s Swimming & Diving - Florida Gators

One of the five sports the University of Florida fielded in its first season in 1972-73, Gators Swimming & Diving made a splash right from the beginning.

In that first season, Florida women's swimming & diving took second in the 1973 AIAW Championships. In that initial season, two national individual titles went to the Gators – Sue Halfacre (400 free) and 400-free relay (Halfacre, Kathy Thomas, Jackie White & Barbara Thomas).

Elle Nachmann reaches quarterfinals of Doherty tourney - South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Boca Raton's Elle Nachmann hadn't played in an individual tournament since the U.S. Women's Amateur in August, yet she had a strong showing recently in the 89th annual Ione D. Jones/Doherty Women's Amateur Championship at the Coral Ridge Country Club.

The 18-year-old Nachmann defeated Rose Zhang, the No. 1 amateur in the world, in the US Women's Amateur, but wasn't sure how she would do in the Doherty. She carded a 4-under 68 in stroke-play qualifying, which is the best round she ever had Coral Ridge Course.

Shorthanded USF women rally late to edge Tulsa

TAMPA — It took awhile Wednesday night, but the injury-riddled USF women's basketball team finally found enough answers in the fourth quarter to pull out a 66-63 come-from-behind win over visiting Tulsa.

It was a victory that didn't make Bulls coach Jose Fernandez exactly happy, because he couldn't help but worry about his team's overall health.

Busy spring and summer of golf: USGA, FSGA championships, qualifiers set

Those thinking about testing their golf games at the national level need to start thinking about local qualifying if they're not overwise exempt.

The United States Golf Association schedule of national championships this year is as good as it gets, with an interesting blend of old-school course, modern tracks that have hosted big events in the past and even a trip to the 49th state.
