Police Chief: Melbourne police officer shot during well-being check at Florida hotel

Sloppy Joe's at ICON Park offering deal for first responders ahead of Patriot Day

Yes, the Florida district court judge's decision granting Trump's request for a Special Master was wrong and badly reasoned . I won't separately go through all the reasons for that, and instead accept the fact of this decision for now.

2 Northwest Florida women hit big with scratch-off tickets

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ( WALA ) - Two Northwest Florida women hit it big with scratch-off lottery tickets, according to Florida Lottery.

On Tuesday, Florida Lottery officials in Tallahassee announced that Zabetti Pappas, 66, of Pensacola, claimed a $1 million prize from the GOLD RUSH LIMITED scratch-off game. Pappas chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $795,000, lottery officials said.

Critically Eroded: Treasure Island Beaches

"Since I've been here, it's the worst I've ever seen it," said Stacy Boyles, Assistant Director of Public Works for the City of Treasure Island. She's talking about Sunset Beach, the narrow strip of sand at the southern end of Treasure Island.

Unlike the more commercial Treasure Island Beach, which hosts Sanding Ovations, the Treasure Island Kite Festival, and several resorts, Sunset Beach has mainly private residences and beach vacation rentals.

Bird flu 2022: UF reports first case in dolphin stranded on Florida beach

The Florida dolphin was found at Horseshoe Beach in Dixie County in March, according to UF. State and federal labs confirmed the bird flu infection and identified the same strain spreading through North America's wild birds and domestic poultry this year.

"While obviously the presence of (bird flu) is a concern, the key takeaway for us is that additional caution should be taken by those handling or encountering wild dolphins during rescue events or while performing necropsies," Walsh said.
