Gatorland Orlando Has Announced The Birth Of A Rare White...

Gatorland Orlando has announced the birth of a rare white alligator, the first of its kind to be documented in the world. According to the park's Facebook post, the hatchling is a solid white leucistic alligator, which is a genetic condition that results in a lack of pigmentation in the animal's skin, scales, and eyes. This is the first time a solid white leucistic alligator has been born since a nest of such alligators was discovered in Louisiana about 36 years ago.

Park officials stated that only seven leucistic alligators are known to still survive in the world, and three of them are housed at Gatorland. Leucistic alligators differ from albino alligators in that they have bright blue eyes instead of pink eyes. The female baby alligator, along with her normal-colored brother, will go on public display early next year.

This rare birth is a significant event for the conservation of alligators and their genetic diversity. Gatorland Orlando is committed to protecting and preserving these magnificent creatures, and this new addition to their family is a test [+]

The Florida Gators women's basketball team is set to take on the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricanes on Sunday in a highly anticipated matchup. Aaron Lewis, The Frontman Of The Rock Band Staind, Has...

Aaron Lewis, the frontman of the rock band Staind, has been forced to postpone the remaining dates of his American Patriot Acoustic Tour due to doctor-ordered vocal rest. The tour was scheduled to take place throughout December, with seven shows affected by the postponement. Fortunately, all but one of the affected dates have been rescheduled for 2024. The canceled show is the one originally planned for December 17 in Saginaw, Michigan.

Lewis's decision to prioritize his vocal health is understandable, given the demands of touring and performing. As a professional musician, he likely relies heavily on his voice to deliver powerful and emotive performances. It's important for artists to take care of their bodies and minds, both on and off stage, to ensure they can continue to create and perform music for their fans.

The rescheduled dates for the American Patriot Acoustic Tour are yet to be announced, but fans can rest assured that Lewis will be back on the road soon, ready to deliver his unique blend of rock and acoustic music.

Margaritaville At Sea Is Expanding Its Operations With The Launch Of A New Ship, The Islander

Margaritaville at Sea is expanding its operations with the launch of a new ship, the Islander, which will accommodate 2,650 passengers. Unlike the current ship, Margaritaville at Sea Paradise, which sails from the Port of Palm Beach, the Islander will depart from Florida's west coast, with stops in Key West and the Mexican port towns of Cozumel and Progreso. This marks a significant expansion for the cruise line, which was rebranded in 2022 in partnership with the late Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville brand.

The Islander is undergoing an extensive transformation, with 1,100 staterooms being redesigned with signature bedding, pillows, and linens, and "custom styling reminiscent of the sand, sea, and sky." According to the cruise line, the decision to base the ship in Tampa was made after careful research, as it provides the best fit for the line's itinerary. Florida Park Agrees To Finally Release Animals After Successful Petition

Florida Park Agrees To Finally Release Animals After Successful Petition: Miami Seaquarium has agreed to finally release two of its captive animals – potentially setting a precedent for similar parks, such as SeaWorld. The park has been under pressure from animal rights activists and concerned citizens who argue that keeping these animals in captivity is unethical and inhumane. After a successful petition and public outcry, the park has finally agreed to release the two animals, a bottlenose dolphin and a sea lion, back into their natural habitat.

This decision is a significant step forward in the fight for animal rights and welfare. For too long, captive animals have been kept in small tanks and enclosures, deprived of their natural environment and the freedom to roam. The release of these two animals is a victory for all those who believe that animals should be treated with respect and compassion, and not used for entertainment or profit. It sets a precedent for other parks and aquariums to follow, and we hope that it will inspire them to release their captive animals and give them the freedom they deserve.

5,000 Fine For Allowing Minors Into Christmas Drag Show - Al.Com

Image
The Hyatt Regency Miami faced a legal issue in 2022 when it allowed minors to attend a Christmas drag show, despite the show's sexually explicit nature. The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) filed a complaint against the hotel, seeking to revoke its liquor license. However, through a settlement reached between the DBPR and the hotel, Hyatt will pay a $5,000 fine and agree to ban minors from attending any shows with specific sexual activities as described by Florida state law.

According to court documents obtained by USA Today, the "A Drag Queen Christmas" show featured performers wearing sexually suggestive clothing and prosthetic female genitalia. The DBPR took action against the hotel for allowing minors to attend the show, as it violated Florida state law.

Under the leadership of Governor DeSantis, the DBPR is committed to holding licensees accountable for breaking the law. The settlement reached between the DBPR and the Hyatt Regency Miami ensures that the hotel will take steps to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. *

Thursday's Daily Pulse - Florida Trend

Thursday's Daily Pulse - Florida Trend: Relocation Trends

According to newly released census data, there has been a shift in the number of people moving between Florida and California. Last year, approximately 29,000 Floridians moved to California, while nearly 51,000 people moved from California to Florida. While these numbers may seem small compared to each state's population, they highlight a change in the relocation trends between the two states.

In addition to the relocation trends, local governments throughout the country have enacted laws to address the issue of plastic and polystyrene. However, in Florida, it is illegal for any local jurisdiction to ban these materials. Environmental advocates have expressed concern over this issue, as it continues to worsen.

Furthermore, there are changes occurring in the property insurance market in Florida. As part of a depopulation program, Citizens Property Insurance has been transferring policies to private companies. This shift has resulted in pr [+]

The Southwest Florida Girls Basketball Players To Watch During The 2023

More Videos On YouTube

Southwest Florida has a rich history of producing talented girls' basketball players, and the 2023 season is shaping up to be no exception. Collier and Lee County, as well as LaBelle, are expected to field competitive teams with above-average players. While it's difficult to predict whether these teams will go on to win a state championship, one thing is certain: these players have the potential to make their mark on the hardwood.

Leading the charge are players like Andersen of Naples, who averaged 14.3 points, 5 rebounds, 2.8 steals, and 2.3 assists last season. Berdebes of Barron Collier is another aggressive player and scorer to watch, with an average of nearly 12 points per game, along with 5.8 rebounds, 3.2 steals, and 2.8 assists. Burchard of Naples is a three-time The News-Press All-Area second-team member who has already scored over 1,000 points in her career and is expected to add to that total this season.

Southwest Florida has annually been producing strong crops of girls' basketball players to send along to the next level.

Desantis Files Last-minute Request To Dismiss

In a last-minute move, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has filed a request to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a group of betting companies known as West Flagler and Associates. The lawsuit aims to stop the Seminole Tribe's mobile sports betting app and the planned relaunch of in-person craps, roulette, and sports betting at all South Florida casinos. The request was filed three weeks after the Seminole Tribe relaunched its mobile sports betting app and days before the planned relaunch of in-person gambling.

According to the governor's response, the plaintiffs waited too long to file their lawsuit, which strips their cause of urgency. The governor argues that the tribe's 2021 gaming compact with the state, which gave the tribe a monopoly on sports betting, is valid and cannot be challenged. The governor's lawyers, led by Attorney General Ashley Moody, argue that the plaintiffs offer no good explanation for their delay in filing the lawsuit.
