There's nothing like a rematch, and Gabriella Gomez and Valarie Solorio certainly have history. The two met in the best-of-three finals at the 2022 U17 Nationals in Forth Worth, Texas, on May 8 and in the 2021 16U National finals in Fargo on July 18. 

Solorio won the 16U title with a 6-3 win over Gomez with Gomez returning the favor by making the U17 World team in straight matches over Solorio: 8-3 and 4-1. Gomez went on to win the 46-kg silver medal at the U17 World Championships in July.

'Roadtrip of fraud' results in pursuit, ends with empty gas tank

FREMONT - Two Florida women are charged with multiple crimes after a fraud incident Tuesday that led to a high-speed chase, terminating when the getaway car ran out of gas.

At the start of the second, Buccaneers handed over the reins to Quarterback Kyle Trask, who is in his sophomore year with Tampa Bay. Trask, out of the University of Florida, had a 75.8% completion rate as he put up 258 passing yards in three quarters.

Pro ball team from South Korea wants spring training in Brevard

A Fort Lauderdale-based representative of the Kia Tigers submitted a request to the Brevard County Tourist Development Council for a $20,000 county sports grant to help cover some of the marketing, public relations, promotions and other costs of the Tigers playing here.

Under the proposal, the Tigers — a member of the 10-team KBO League, South Korea's top-level baseball league — would be in Brevard from Feb. 1 to March 10 for spring training. The Tigers are based in Gwangju, in southwest South Korea.
