A day at the beach: How to save money on parking, food & rentals on our South Florida shores – ...

The beach is our getaway, our escape from the pressures of work and home, our respite from the unforgiving sun with its (usually) gentle winds and bobbing waves.

The problem is keeping it low-cost. Almost every city charges for parking now, and even those spots can be hard to come by. You can bring your own food, but if you want to walk over to a restaurant, prices are often excessive.

Weekend things to do in South Florida July 15-17

On this weekend, the frenzied high point of that celebration of the shimmering and svelte known as Miami Swim Week, the rest of South Florida will be entranced by the Boca Burger Battle, limitless German beer and brats, Santa hats and Dirty Heads.

Weekend laughs: Sam Morril , a rising Amy Schumer protege seen on Comedy Central, and with Conan and Colbert, had six shows scheduled last month in Chicago and it wasn't enough — they all sold out, so he added a seventh.

It was only four years ago that Katherine Maroko, 17, attended her first horse trials in person. She had begged her parents to drop her off for cross-country day at the 2018 Plantation Field International Horse Trials, just minutes from her home in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.

Flash forward four years, and Maroko, who grew up catch riding at local hunter schooling shows, has successfully made the transition from three-ring rider to three-phase rider, working under the direction of five-star eventer Hannah Sue Burnett.
