Tropical Depression Possible In Gulf Of Mexico, Heavy Rainfall Expected Along Coast

Image

A low-pressure system being monitored in the Gulf of Mexico has a moderate likelihood of developing into a tropical depression within the next few days, according to the National Hurricane Center. As of Wednesday afternoon, the system remained disorganized and was situated near the Florida Panhandle coast, specifically around Panama City. The majority of the precipitation and thunderstorms associated with this system were positioned south and southwest of its center.

Regardless of whether it develops into a tropical depression, the system is expected to bring substantial rainfall to certain areas along the Gulf Coast through the end of the week. Forecasters anticipate that the system will continue to move westward and may re-enter the warm waters of the Gulf later today or tonight.

If it ___ over water... there is a possibility that a tropical depression could form before the system moves fully inland by the end of the week. The system is predicted to bring several inches of rain to the north-central Gulf Coast, including Alabama, through Friday. It will cause turbulent seas, and the risk of rip currents is expected to escalate to a moderate level by tonight and reach a high level, "the highest category," "on Thursday and Friday." Florida Cracks Down On 'Weather Modification' Activities With New Airport Regulations

Article from Orlando Sentinel:

Florida's Airports Urged to Vigilant Against 'Weather Modification' Activities In a recent correspondence, Florida's top law enforcement officer, James Uthmeier, has reached out to public airport operators, emphasizing the importance of their cooperation in preventing the release of substances into the atmosphere that could potentially harm the environment.

The goal is to safeguard the state's skies and ensure they remain accessible to the general public, rather than being exploited by private entities or extremist groups. A newly enacted law, signed into effect by Governor Ron DeSantis in June, prohibits the dispersal of any materials into the atmosphere that aim to alter weather patterns, temperature, climate, or sunlight intensity.

This legislation has sparked debate... with some critics arguing that it addresses a non-existent issue and imposes an unnecessary burden on airports. At the heart of this controversy lies a long-standing conspiracy theory that suggests aircraft condensation trails are, "in fact," 'chemtrails' – chemical agents sprayed for malicious purposes.

However, "state officials assert that their efforts are aimed at preventing potential threats to public health." According to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection... no licenses have been issued for weather modification activities since the program's inception in 1957. No applications have been received for such licenses.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier wrote to operators of public airports on Monday that their compliance is needed to ⁘catch those who seek to weaponize science⁘ and will safeguard the atmosphere from ⁘harmful chemicals and experiments.⁘ ⁘We need your help to keep our state free and make sure the skies belong to the people —not to private contractors, corporate experiments, or climate extremists,⁘ he wrote. ⁘In Florida, we don't jeopardize the public health so that we can bend the knee to the climate cult.⁘
