First Coast Varsity Weekly: Taliah Scott leads Florida basketball scoring

The St. Johns Country Day junior guard is chasing the nation's scoring leaders as the Spartans' girls basketball season approaches the district tournament in two weeks.

Scott has tallied 420 points in 13 games for a 32.3-point average, good for sixth in the national MaxPreps rankings. The national leader is junior guard Jocelyn Medina of Arbuckle (Calif.) Pierce, who is averaging 38.9 points so far.

Grant kicks off another year of historic presentations | The Ponte Vedra Recorder

Local historian and speaker Scott Grant gave his first presentation of 2022 on Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Nocatee Hall.

In “The Beatles Come to Florida,” Grant tells the story of John, Paul, George and Ringo on their first U.S. tour. The Beatles made two trips to Florida as a group, both in 1964.

SEE IT: Elementary School Employees Force Student To Eat Food From Trash as Classmates Laugh

On Wednesday, Ohio officials released a video that apparently shows elementary school staff forcing a student to eat food she had thrown in the garbage.

WKYC obtained surveillance footage from December, which apparently shows Palm Elementary School principal Debra Pustulka and paraprofessional Monika Sommers-Fridenstine watching the student throw waffles in the trash during lunch.
