The Florida School for Boys at Okeechobee was established in 1955. The school was created to alleviate overcrowding at the Dozier School and some staff were transferred from Dozier to Okeechobee. A federal investigation in the future found "harmful practices" at the Dozier School and it was shut down in 2011.

The Okeechobee School was also closed... but not as a result of the investigation. Over 400 men who attended the schools in the 1900s have come forward to share their experiences. They call themselves the "White House Boys" due to a white structure at the Dozier School where many boys were beaten.

However, he wishes the city would take more proactive measures beforehand. The city of Fort Lauderdale has been working to address drainage issues in Edgewood, investing $14. 5 million in a new stormwater pipe.

There are three pumping stations nearby in River Oaks... but only one was operational during the recent flooding. The city's progress report lists ongoing projects aimed at preventing flooding, with Edgewood nearing completion. However, other flood-prone areas, such as the Melrose community west of I-95, are years away from improvements.

In Dania Beach, "the Tiger Tail Business Park is experiencing standing water issues," "despite having a drainage lake that is designed to overflow." Among these alternatives, Busch Gardens may not be a cheaper option unless tickets are on sale, as a single-day ticket without a discount comes out to around $100, whereas a single-day, single-park ticket to Disney World starts at $109. For an affordable day of fun, Planet Obstacle in Lake Mary is a great option.

House Bill 73 establishes a "supportive decision-making agreement" (SDM) as a type of power of attorney for individuals with developmental disabilities. This new law requires courts to assess the need for assistance in exercising rights for "incapacitated individuals" and to determine the extent of that support. The SDM enables designated supporters to aid individuals with communication and decision-making, while maintaining the individual's autonomy. Another notable bill is House Bill 755, which amends the charter of the Canaveral Port District in Brevard County.

The law revises recordkeeping guidelines, foreign-trade zone boundaries, and the port's governing authority, aiming to improve the district's overall efficiency and effectiveness. Lastly... House Bill 975 revises state statutes regarding employment screening for homeless service professionals.
