It's nesting season on the Florida coast! Here's what you should know to help protect the birds.

Birds have begun nesting along the Florida coast. Here's what you should know to help protect the birds and their ecosystems this spring and summer.

Shorebirds and seabirds build their nest in the sand, but be careful – these nests tend to be shallow, and their eggs are difficult to see. The eggs are often camouflaged in the sand, which is a form of predator protection. They can be easily missed and stepped on.

Florida is now the 15 th largest global economy (if ranking Florida as a country) and our natural beauty and from the Keys to the beaches of North Florida is second to no one.

In fact, I never left the state during the pandemic, and that is just fine by me. I found plenty to do in Florida, including: Gainesville (football) and enjoying our coastal communities, Panama City, St. Teresa, Destin, and Apalachicola.

Florida is home to so much wildlife. I had always wanted to see a manatee in the wild and ride an airboat through swamplands. I made both of those things happen on our recent Orlando trip when we booked a tour with Real Florida Adventures .

What is Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' bill? - The Washington Post

This week, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed into law a measure, the Parental Rights in Education bill, that critics have successfully labeled the "Don't Say Gay" law.

It certainly aims to limit LGBTQ discussion in schools. But it's also on the front lines of the battle over how much say parents should have in their children's education — and it raises questions of how much schools should act as a support system for students, period.

There are so many bad ideas in the Florida Legislature that trying to follow them all is like trying to herd cats … if the cats were also doing things like sucking up to special interests and trying to keep secrets about the way they run the government.

For instance, there was a proposal to inject more secrecy into how Florida carries out executions. Do you know what happened to that bill?

How Disney and CEO Bob Chapek made a mess of the company's reaction to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' ...

Disney employs 38 lobbyists to press its interests inside Florida's state Capitol complex in Tallahassee. With its Orlando theme park empire and roughly 80,000 workers, the company already wields considerable influence in a state closely tied to tourism.

So Eskamani and many other lawmakers were surprised when Disney — and its lobbyists — kept quiet as a mouse when state lawmakers started debating a bill to ban discussions about sexual orientation or gender identity in primary school classrooms.
