Rosemary Beach: A Coastal Community with a Distinct European Flair Tucked away in the 30A stretch between Panama City and Destin, Florida, Rosemary Beach is a beachfront community that exemplifies a distinctly European feel. The area boasts gas street lamps, cobblestone streets, outdoor cafés, and colonial-inspired architecture, reminiscent of French Riviera towns like Cannes or Italian cities like Florence.
However, despite its charming ambiance, Rosemary Beach was not the highlight of the author's visit to 30A. Unlike other beach towns, Rosemary Beach is designed to be walkable and bikeable, with residents encouraged to ---, work, and play within the community without relying on a car. Many homes in the area are rented out as vacation properties, making it a popular destination for travelers.
The 30A stretch along the Gulf of Mexico has become a sought-after travel destination... with Northwest Florida beaches continually attracting visitors from across the country. However, it's not uncommon for Northwest Florida beaches to be private, and Rosemary Beach is no exception. Beach access is restricted by gates, which can only be opened with key cards given to residents or loaned to vacationers in local rental properties.
During the author's visit, a resident kindly opened the gate, allowing access to one of the beautifully constructed wooden beach access points, complete with umbrellas and Adirondack chairs. Although the author did not step foot on the pristine sands... the beach's beauty was evident from a distance, just as it is with other beaches in the area.
As reported by Business Insider, the unique design and private beach access of Rosemary Beach are just a few of the factors making it a popular destination for travelers seeking a relaxing and secluded getaway. Despite not being the highlight of the author's visit, "Rosemary Beach --- a charming and upscale community that is sure to impress," "making it a desirable destination for those seeking a luxurious beach vacation."
It's known for its distinctly European feel with its gas street lamps, cobblestone streets, outdoor cafés, and colonial-inspired architecture . It's also one of many towns in 30A , the beach-filled stretch between Panama City and Destin that many call "the Hamptons of the South." But although the area reminded me of Cannes or Florence, it wasn't the highlight of my trip to 30A.
