ORLANDO, Fla. – A new number arrives this week that is meant to be a 911 for behavioral health crises.
"This is the first time anything like this has been attempted and it's long overdue," said Marni Stahlman, president of the Mental Health Association of Central Florida.
Deputies ID man, 18, accused of shooting at law enforcement in Mount Dora
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a home in Deltona on Sunday after a woman called to report she had been on the phone with her husband, Juan Santiago, when she heard him arguing with their son, Johnny Santiago.
During the phone call, deputies said she heard a loud noise and the call disconnected. The sheriff's office responded to the home on E. Lehigh Drive where they found no one home.
Vehicle crashes after reported apartment shooting, causes roadblock, Ocala police say
OCALA, Fla. – A reported shooting and subsequent crash at an Ocala apartment complex shut down the southbound lanes on SW 27th Avenue Monday evening, police said.
Police said a shooting occurred at The Morgan Apartments, 1421 SW 27th Ave., though there is no active threat at this time.
Marion County deputies issue Purple Alert for missing Ocala man
OCALA, Fla. – A Purple Alert has been issued for a missing Ocala man Monday by the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
The Purple Alert is for Luis Ortiz, 38, who was last seen Sunday at about 10 a.m. leaving his home at 10 Carry Back Road in Ocala, deputies said.
