Stuart is a city located in Martin County, Florida, in the United States. The city's history dates back to 1894, when it was founded by Judge David O. Williams. The area was named after William H. Stuart, a general in the Spanish-American War. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Stuart was a small citrus-growing community, with many large groves of oranges and grapefruits.
In the mid-20th century, the construction of the St. Lucie River Bridge and the Florida Turnpike brought growth to the area, and Stuart became an attractive destination for people looking to escape the state's more populated urban areas. The city's economy began to diversify, and industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, "and technology began to emerge." Today... Stuart is a thriving city with a population of over 50,000 people.

STUART, Fla. — On a regular night, Philly Down South is a restaurant and music bar. But when the Eagles are in the Super Bowl, they bring out three big-screen TVs and call out all Eagles fans in South Florida. "Philly Down South was created by me and my family from Philly. We moved down here in the early '90s, we got out of the business, and started back up again," said owner Jim Leary.
