After not being recognized by Travel + Leisure "World's Best Awards" since 2021, a Lee County resort has vaulted to No. 1 on the 2025 list for Florida's Best Resorts.
On July 8 Travel + Leisure released this year's list of Florida's Best Resorts and sitting at the top of the 15 resorts listed is Boca Grande's Gasparilla Inn .
"Gasparilla Inn made a comeback this year," the T+L story said.
"Family-owned by a select few since 1964, the property has retained a distinct Old Florida charm that dates back to the inn's opening in 1913."
There's even better news for Lee County. A second, resort, the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa made the Top-15 coming in at No. 13.
The recognition doesn't stop there.
Two more Southwest Florida resorts, the Ritz-Carlton in Naples (No. 3) and The Inn on Fifth in Naples (No. 12), were also on the list of best Florida Resorts.
Hotels were classified as either resort hotel, city hotel, inn, or safari lodge based on their location and amenities, and they were specifically rated on the criteria below:
For each characteristic, respondents could choose a rating of excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor.
The final scores are averages of these responses.
"There truly is no place like The Gasparilla Inn. Its unique character and historic charm create an elegant atmosphere that is fast disappearing from most, if not all, other hotels and resorts."
