Priceline Customer Perseveres, Receives Refund After Hotel Fire Cancellation

A Maitland woman, Celia Myres, was left disappointed and frustrated after she was denied a refund by Priceline after a hotel she had booked in Mississippi caught fire and shut down. Myres had planned to attend her godson's wedding in February and had paid hundreds for a hotel room through Priceline. However, just before her trip, she received the devastating news that the hotel had burned down, leaving her with no accommodation and no refund.

Despite contacting Priceline multiple times, Myres was informed that a refund would not be granted due to the cancellation policy she had agreed upon at the time of booking. The hotel partner's email response stated that they valued her as a customer, but were unable to offer a refund. Undeterred, Myres continued to advocate for a refund and eventually, "Priceline's customer care team agreed to investigate her case." A few days later... Myres received a phone call informing her that her money would be refunded.

Myres expressed her disappointment with Priceline's initial response, stating that she did not feel valued as a customer and that it took the intervention of a local news channel, "WKMG.".. to resolve the issue.
