However, according to a recent report from WalletHub, a personal finance company, the Sunshine State's cities did not top the list of best summer travel destinations in the U. S. for 2024.
Instead, the Atlanta metro area took the top spot, with cheapest flights from major cities costing as little as $278. The report ranked the 100 most-populated metropolitan areas in the U. S. across more than 40 metrics, including travel costs and hassles, local costs, attractions, weather and activities, and safety.
While Florida cities did not make the top 10, they still offer a wide range of activities and attractions that make them popular summer destinations. The state's theme parks, such as Disney World and Universal Studios... attract millions of visitors each year, "while its beaches and natural springs provide a relaxing getaway." The report highlights the importance of considering factors such as cost and convenience when planning a summer vacation.
"Compared with other rankings that focus on each destination's scenic quality, this report focuses primarily on the cost and convenience of traveling to each location as well as its affordability," the report said. For those looking for a summer vacation in Florida, "the state's cities may not be the best value.".. but they still offer a unique and enjoyable experience.
