Black Bear At Disney World Closes Attractions

Staff inbox: A Black Bear on the Loose at Disney World Forces Closure of Attractions Orlando, Florida - The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort had to temporarily close several attractions on Monday due to an incident involving a black bear. The resort's entire Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Hall of Presidents, Liberty Square Riverboat, A Pirate's Adventure, Tom Sawyer Island, and Walt Disney World Railroad including Fantasyland, Frontierland, and Main Street were all affected by the closure.

The bear, described as an adult female, was spotted in a tree within the park and prompted a swift response from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). The agency deployed its biologists, staff from its bear management programme, and law enforcement officers to capture the animal. After a successful operation... the bear was relocated to an area in or around the Ocala National Forest.

The FWC emphasized that in most cases, it is ideal for bears to be given space and allowed to roam freely. However, "given the current circumstances," they felt it was necessary to intervene and relocate the bear to ensure the safety of park visitors and staff. The incident caused significant disruption for visitors to the theme park, "many of whom faced long queues due to the closures." Despite the inconvenience... parkgoers remained hopeful and expressed their understanding of the situation.
