The Nantahala Outdoor Center celebrates 50 years with spring events, new trips abroad
Payson and Aurelia Kennedy, and Horace Holden Sr. were ahead of their time when they created the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC) in 1972. The three like-minded friends shared a love for adventure and outdoor activities, particularly whitewater rafting, as well as the desire to help others.
