In the realm of high school girls swimming in Northeast Florida, a legacy of exceptional athletes has emerged over the past quarter century. The Times-Union has compiled a Quarter-Century team, showcasing one remarkable swimmer per individual event, with achievements spanning from 2000 to 2025. Among them is a talented swimmer from Thailand, who made a splash at the 2021 Class 1A championship with a blistering 50 free time of 22. 38 seconds, a school record that fell just 0. 16 seconds shy of the state record. Her impressive 100 free time of 49. 10 also stands as the area's best over the past 25 years. She went on to compete at Texas A&M, demonstrating her enduring prowess in the sport. Another standout athlete is Hammel, who recently etched her name into the record books at the FHSAA Class 1A championship. Her remarkable 200 free time of 1:45. 69 surpassed the previous area best, set by Janelle Atkinson of Bolles in 1999.
