This legislation seeks to penalize those involved in bribing players, insider betting, and prearranged outcomes with severe consequences, including up to five years in prison.

FBI Director Kash Patel highlighted the extensive nature of the probe, stating, "We're talking about tens of millions of dollars in fraud and theft and robbery across a multi-year investigation." Experts and commentators have weighed in on the issue, with sportscaster Jim Gray describing involvement in such schemes as "just foolish," emphasizing the risks to athletes' careers. Betting analyst Geoff Zochodne expressed optimism that stronger penalties could deter players, coaches, and consumers from engaging in illegal activities.
