The urgency for such measures stems from recent scandals, including the indictment of two Cleveland Guardians pitchers in November for allegedly conspiring with bettors to manipulate games. These incidents have sparked nationwide concerns, prompting Florida to take proactive steps to prevent similar cases within the state.
According to Yahoo Sports, the investigation into these fraudulent activities has uncovered tens of millions of dollars in fraud. FBI Director Kash Patel highlighted the extensive nature of the probe, stating, "We're talking about tens of millions of dollars in fraud and theft and robbery across a multi-year investigation."
