Five Florida Gators Players Invited To East-West Shrine Bowl

The Florida Gators are set to be well-represented at the East-West Shrine Bowl, a college all-star game that serves as a crucial platform for NFL scouts to discover emerging talent. Five former University of Florida players have accepted invitations to participate in the event, scheduled to take place on January 27, 2026, at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. Among the invitees is edge rusher George Gumbs Jr., whose skills are expected to be on full display.

Defensive end Tyreak Sapp will also be joining him, as will wide receiver J. Michael Sturdivant, who had a notable stint with the Gators after transferring from UCLA. In his lone season with the team, Sturdivant managed 27 catches for 406 yards and 3 touchdowns, showcasing his capabilities as a receiver. Kicker Trey Smack and punter Tommy Doman round out the group of Florida players heading to the East-West Shrine Bowl. Smack had an impressive 2025 season, converting 18 of 22 field goals, including 5 of 6 attempts from 50 yards or longer.

His career record of 10 field goals of 50 yards or longer stands as a testament to his skill and accuracy.
