In the quaint northeast Florida destination of Amelia Island, a charming transformation takes place each December. The annual Charles Dickens-themed Christmas festival, now in its 11th year, is set to enchant literature and history enthusiasts alike. From December 11 to 14, the town of Fernandina Beach will be reimagined as a Victorian holiday village, complete with a festive Christmas market, shopping booths, and food and drink stands.
The celebration, known as Dickens on Centre, promises to be a treat for all ages. Visitors can expect to find holiday movies, Santa visits, costumed characters, and two entertainment stages. Kids' zones and 3D drone shows will also be on offer, ensuring that the young and young-at-heart have a delightful time. One of the highlights of the festival is the Dickens Illuminated Procession, a Front Street parade that takes place on December 11. Participants are encouraged to bring illuminated lanterns to add to the magical atmosphere.
