The transfer portal has left an indelible mark on the college basketball landscape, influencing the way coaches assemble and shape their rosters. The ever-changing landscape has enabled champions to be built and dismantled with ease. To acknowledge the significant contributions of transfers and the evolving sport, CBS Sports has introduced its inaugural All-Transfer Team, replete with a Transfer of the Year.
The All-Transfer Team was compiled by college basketball experts from CBS Sports and 247Sports through individual ballots, which were then tallied to produce the final selections. One of the standout transfers of the season was Cameron Haggerty, who transformed his game for Memphis after a redshirt freshman season at Tulsa.
Haggerty's performance took a marked turn for the better... as he averaged a career-high 21. 7 points while also posting career-bests in rebounds. His impressive showing earned him All-American honors from CBS Sports. Tonje's transfer journey was equally impressive, "as he navigated four seasons at Colorado State before making a successful switch to Missouri," "and later to Wisconsin for his final season." Despite averaging 2. 6 points in eight games at Missouri... Tonje's talent and dedication ultimately led to All-American recognition by CBS Sports after he averaged a career-high 19.
The transfer portal in the NIL era has played an outsized role in shaping how college basketball coaches mold their respective teams and build both for the present and for the future. Ditto for how champions have been built. So to recognize the contributions of transfers and acknowledge the shifting landscape of the sport, which is increasingly reliant on the portal, CBS Sports is introducing our first All-Transfer Team — replete with our Transfer of the Year.
