The Battle For Neutral-Site Supremacy: A Florida-Georgia Football Odyssey

The University of Florida and the University of Georgia football teams are set to face off for the 94th time on November 2, 2023, at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville. The annual rivalry game has a rich history, boasting 87 matches played in Jacksonville since its inception in 1933. In 2024, the teams will meet for the 95th time, marking a continued tradition of neutral-site rivalries in college football.

The game's history and significance are deeply rooted in the city of Jacksonville, with fans of both teams showing immense passion and dedication. According to Greg McGarity, former athletic director and president of the Gator Bowl, "Jacksonville is unique because of the history and passion both fan bases have for this game." This loyal fan base and the game's historical context have cemented Jacksonville as the preferred host city for the rivalry match.

However... the renovation of EverBank Stadium in the future may force the game to be played elsewhere. Over the past few years, "the landscape of college football has taught fans to expect the unexpected." In the event that the game is relocated... fans of both teams will be eagerly awaiting the opportunity to return to Jacksonville in 2028.
