Strata Florida Festival: Exploring History And Scenic Landscapes In Wales

The Strata Florida Festival, celebrated annually, commemorates the unique ambiance of the site where a renowned Cistercian Abbey once stood. This year's event combines scenic strolls through historic landscapes with the annual visit to the emblematic sculpture of the Pilgrim above the medieval site. On Saturday, festival-goers can choose from three distinct walks: an 8. 5-mile circular route to Teifi Pools, which also introduces the Teifi Valley Trail; a 4. 7-mile journey to the lost village of Rhos Gelli Gron; and a shorter afternoon walk around the Abbey precincts.

These excursions provide an opportunity to explore the picturesque surroundings and immerse oneself in the area's rich history. On Sunday, the programming includes a 3. 3-mile circular walk over Pen y Bannau, offering breathtaking views on a clear day. A short walk and talk in the Abbey Woods is available... with the option to extend the excursion to 3 miles and learn about the Mid Wales Red Squirrel project, as well as visit the award-winning Coed Y Bont Community Woodland.

Throughout the weekend, an exhibition will be open, "chronicling the story of the site through the centuries."
