This Weekend in Southwest Florida: A Mix of Art, Music, and Fun As the summer slowly ends, Southwest Florida is gearing up for a jam-packed August with a plethora of fun events and activities for all ages. From art exhibits to ___ music, and from celebrity concerts to family-friendly festivities, there's something for everyone.
First up, the Fort Myers Art Walk is set to take place on Friday, August 2, featuring new art exhibits at downtown Fort Myers galleries, receptions, and art vendors outside on First Street. This month's exhibits include "Cinematic Devotion," a group show inspired by cult-classic movies, in the second-floor Capital Gallery at Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center.
The event is free and takes place from 5-9 p. m. Over in Cape Coral, Eight-Foot Brewing is celebrating its sixth year with two days of ___ music, food trucks, and special beer releases. On Friday and Saturday... August 2-3, the brewery will be hosting ___ music from Adam Hartig and The Hot Buttered Nuggets, respectively, starting at 6 p. m. both nights.
Admission is free. Getting the kids back to school can be a daunting task, but Gulf Coast Town Center is here to help with its Back To School Bash. The event will feature games, prizes, stilt walking, balloon twisting, a luau photo booth, vendors, and a deejay spinning "summer jams." The fun takes place from 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. on Saturday, August 3, and is free for all to attend.
Music fans won't want to miss the opportunity to see John Lodge... bassist and singer-songwriter of The Moody Blues, take the stage at the Seminole Center at Seminole Casino Hotel in Immokalee. Lodge will be playing every song from his latest solo album, "Days of Future Passed ― My Sojourn," as well as a set of Moody Blues hits.
The show takes place on Friday, August 2, and tickets range from $55 to $75. Finally, for fans of Frank Sinatra, "the Players Circle Theater in Fort Myers has a treat in store." Four singers and a jazz trio will be celebrating the classic crooner's hits in a transformed 1940s-style nightclub. Songs will include "I've Got the World on a String," "Fly Me to the Moon," and "New York, "New York."

Here are five fun things to do this weekend and beyond, including The Moody Blues bassist John Lodge, Art Walk and Gulf Coast Town Center's Back To School Bash. Plus we look at what's ahead in the coming weeks: SWFL Anime-Fest, '80s tribute act The Molly Ringwalds and more.
