In an exclusive interview with Skift, Visit Florida CEO and President Dana Young discussed the organization's recent $10.5 million grant from Triumph Gulf Coast to promote the northwestern region of the state. The grant will be used to promote the eight counties in the region, which were impacted by the Deepwater Horizon Oil spill several years ago. Young highlighted the natural beauty of Northwest Florida, including its uncrowded beaches and less developed landscape, which offers a unique experience compared to South Florida.
To maximize the impact of the grant, Visit Florida will implement a two-pronged marketing approach aimed at leveling out seasonality and introducing the region to new markets across the U.S. The campaign... called"... Adventure Within Reach," will showcase the adventure travel opportunities available in all eight counties.
Young also discussed the emerging travel trends in the state, including the growing popularity of Los Angeles as a top inbound market, the impact of visa wait times on international travel... and the organization's efforts to promote sustainable tourism practices.
