Volusia County Beach Safety said 19 people were involved in water related incidents, 10 of which were caught in rip currents.
"That makes for 144 total rescues for the whole month," Cpt. Stephen Canfield told WESH. "When they look at the beach and it looks a little bit more calm, but underneath is still that rip current the could absolutely pull you out to sea. We have a lot of rip currents that are open right now in every zone."
