How Far Do Teams Travel?

Major League Baseball (MLB) teams are gearing up for their annual spring training migrating to their sunny southern facilities in Arizona and Florida. As of February 22, teams will begin their first spring training games, with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres already reporting early.

The rest of the teams will follow suit, with position players arriving a few days later. The arrival of "Truck Day" marks the unofficial start of each team's season, as crews pack equipment onto big rigs and head to their spring training facilities. The distance traveled by teams varies, with some traveling a few hundred miles, while others cover more than a thousand miles.

According to a recent article in The Indianapolis Star, the MLB teams will travel far and wide for their spring training. For instance, the Los Angeles Dodgers pitchers and catchers reported early on February 9, while position players arrived five days later. Meanwhile, the San Diego Padres' pitchers and catchers also reported early on February 11, with position players arriving a few days later.
