40 Florida Girls Flag Football Teams At Stadium

Image
Opinion column: The annual Jaguars Prep Girls Flag Football Preseason Classic kicked off three days of youth athletics in Jacksonville, featuring a flag college showcase, a quarterback skills challenge, and a 7-on-7 football tournament. More than 40 schools from across the state of Florida participated in the event, including some of the area's most established powers.

Among the early winners were Stanton (Courtney Brown and Gabrielle Fajardo), Atlantic Coast (Gaby Rourke), Fletcher (Jasmine Cross), and Sandalwood (Ashley Purdy), all of whom went 2-0 in their games.

For the young athletes participating in the event, the experience was more than just a chance to compete on a real football field.

As Fleming Island running back and linebacker Gabi Musa put it, "Everything around you feels so much bigger. You just get a chance to be on a real field." The event provided an opportunity for teams to showcase their skills and compete against some of the best teams in the state. ** Check back for any additional developments.
