Girl, Aged 6, Saves Unconscious Brother From Drowning in Florida Pool: Cops

A child drowning in a pool was rescued by his quick-thinking 6-year-old sister, according to Florida police.

The West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) said its officers were alerted to reports that a child was unconscious after being pulled from a pool at the Springhill Suites Hotel at about 7:51 p.m. on Friday, August 26.

Missing Florida teen travels up East Coast in tractor-trailers, is found in rural Virginia

SUSSEX COUNTY, Va. ( WRIC ) - A missing Florida teenager was found in a rural Virginia county, having traveled up the coast via tractor-trailer rides after her family reported her missing several days earlier, according to Virginia State Police.

Virginia State Police (VSP) said the 17-year-old girl ran away from her Florida home on Thursday, Aug. 25. The Pasco County Sheriff's Office in Florida called VSP three days later, on Sunday, Aug.

2022 high school golfers to watch in Naples, Fort Myers, Cape Coral

Southwest Florida has always had a pool of strong golfers, and this year is no exception. Most of the All-Area First-Team selections are returning, and have had strong showings at Junior PGA tournaments this summer.

Three will compete to be Bratwurst Festival's next queen

Hot-air balloons soar over Presque Isle to open 19th annual festival

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Skies were fair and winds calmed nicely Thursday evening in Presque Isle as pilots and their passengers lifted off in hot-air balloons.

The 19th annual Crown of Maine Balloon Fest began with its own take on a ribbon cutting at the Northern Maine Fairgrounds. With a brief shot of flame, pilot Mike Lavoie of West Ossipee, New Hampshire, burned the ribbon in half and the festival was on.

Airlines delayed more than 8,000 flights in a stormy start to the week - The Washington Post

Thousands of passengers had their flights canceled or delayed Monday as storm systems from Texas to the East Coast disrupted air traffic.

According to flight tracking site FlightAware , 1,485 U.S. flights were canceled and nearly another 8,400 were delayed. American, Southwest and United were the hardest hit among major airlines; 39 percent of American's flights were delayed, as were 40 percent of Southwest's.
