MIAMI — For the fifth year, a local community group is bringing together dozens of Haitian women for two days of empowerment workshops and cultural celebrations, the latest of several women-affirming events taking place this year.
"We’re really focusing on pouring back into the community," Keisha Jean-Louis, the founder of Women's Empowerment Weekend, said. "It's about being around women who are going through similar things like you. it's just a safe space."

DeSantis has done little formal campaigning as he gears up to try and win a second term.
Meanwhile, Trump is scheduled to speak Saturday evening at a "Student Action Summit" put on by the conservative activist group Turning Point USA in Tampa.
All of that ambition will be on display in Tampa and Hollywood this weekend, providing a potential preview of what's to come in 2024.

It's Sammy Hagar weekend on Lake Boca as the Red Rocker gets behind the bar on Saturday, July 23, at the Waterstone Resort & Marina's SeaSpray Inlet Grill with his new line of "sparkling rum" cocktails in a can.
The event runs from noon to 4 p.m., with Hagar scheduled to be on hand from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and behind the bar from 1 to 1:30 p.m.
