Earth Day: 2 Florida women find a way to help people by using plastic bags

To many of us, plastic bags are a way to get our groceries and anything else we buy home from the store. And yes, while we may reuse them later for other things, in the end, they typically get thrown out with the rest of the garbage -- and that's a big problem.

Worldwide, one trillion plastic bags are used every year, 160,000 are used every second, and an estimated 300 million plastic bags end up in the Atlantic Ocean.

DeSantis Walt Disney World: Governor seeks to remove tax privileges for theme park

Note to readers: The Florida Senate voted Wednesday to strip the Walt Disney Company of special privileges in regulating and maintaining 38 square miles of Central Florida, home to its six theme parks and resorts.

This issue has caused quite a stir here in the Sunshine State as well as around the country with many saying this is happening because Disney's CEO vowed to work to repeal the Parental Rights in Education Act — which opponents decried as the "Don't Say Gay" law.

Florida bride and caterer charged with lacing wedding food with cannabis

Two Florida women face felony charges after being accused of lacing food with marijuana at a wedding.

Seminole County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to a wedding around 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 19 at The Springs Clubhouse in Longwood, Florida, about 20 minutes outside Orlando.

Missouri McWhorter nominees announced

The H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship has been presented by the Southeastern Conference since 1986 to the league's top male and female scholar-athletes.
