Florida 'Don't Say Gay' bill passes final Senate committee | TheHill

Florida's so-called "Don't Say Gay" bill on Monday passed its final state Senate committee. It now moves to the Senate floor for a vote.

Officially known as the Parental Rights in Education bill , the controversial legislation was passed last week by the House in a 69-47 vote. The state Senate Appropriations Committee on Monday advanced the bill by a vote of 12 to 8.

Florida bill to protect consumer data from Big Tech faces final House vote

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CAP NEWS/WCJB) - House Bill 9 doesn't stop companies from selling your data, but it gives give you rights says sponsor Rep. Fiona McFarland (R-Sarasota).

"One, it gives the consumer the right to know what information a company collects about them. Two, it gives the consumer the right to delete or correct that information. And three it gives the consumer the right to opt-out of their data being sold or shared," says the sponsor.

Florida bill would phase out solar net metering by 2029 | wtsp.com

A bill to slowly phase out current solar net metering in Florida is making its way through the Legislature. 

House Bill 741 successfully went through committees and passed the House by a vote of 83-31. It soon will head to the Senate.

As it currently stands, starting in 2024, the bill would begin reducing the net metering rate homeowners and business owners get paid.

Bill permitting development on manatees' food source stalls in Legislature - WUFT News

TAMPA, Fla. – Environmental advocates are encouraged that a bill to open Florida's seagrass beds to development – which could be devastating for the dwindling manatee population – has only a slim chance of passing the Legislature this session.

"We would be destroying what little seagrass we have left in the state," said David Cullen, a lobbyist for Sierra Club Florida. "It just makes no sense at all."
