2022 Northeast Florida high school girls soccer district tournament recap

Top-ranked Bartram Trail rolled to a 31st consecutive win Tuesday night, downing rival Creekside 2-0 in the District 1-7A girls soccer championship to take the latest step toward a Florida High School Athletic Association three-peat.

Sophia Magdalein scored before halftime and Grace Ivey found the net in the closing moments for the Bears (17-0), ranked first in the nation by MaxPreps and fourth by PrepSoccer.

Wednesday Roundup: Catholic boys, West Florida girls capture district soccer championships

The Crusaders captured their first district title since 2019 after defeating the Braves from North Bay Haven High School. Leveled at 1-1 at halftime, Pensacola Catholic scored twice in the second half to take the title.

Sophomore midfielder Wiley Collins put home two goals while Miller Thorsen added his team-best 19th goal of the season. The senior forward scored seven times in three matches against Walton this season.

Florida girls high school weightlifting tournament set. Who is going from Lake, Sumter counties?

Six area schools posted top-10 finishes in the various regionals. Eustis won the Class 1A-Region 3 title, edging The Villages by two points (43-41), while South Sumter (23 points) finished fourth, Mount Dora (18) was fifth and Wildwood was seventh (12).

In Class 2A-Region 2, Leesburg finished tied for third along with Middleburg. Green Cove Springs Clay dominated en route to winning the regional title with 49 points, followed by New Smyrna Beach (23) and Middleburg and Leesburg (18).

HS Roundup: Gulf Coast, Naples, South, Neumann, Seacrest girls hoops win

Gulf Coast 63, Venice 46: The Sharks got their 10th straight win after downing the Vikings in the Class 7A-District 8 semifinals. New York University commit Reese Tremitiere scored 21 points to lead Gulf Coast, Maddie Leslie added 14, and Tyrah Townsend scored 12 respectively.

MUSKEGON COUNTY. — The mother of a Florida teenager is speaking out after her daughter was taken by a 24-year-old man, along with two other teenagers, all the way up to a motel in Muskegon.

Here are reports from the Southwest Florida boys and girls soccer district finals played Wednesday, Feb. 2.

Mariner (No. 10 in Florida, No. 2 in 5A) and North Fort Myers (No. 2 in Florida, No. 1 in 5A) duked it out for 100 scoreless minutes until Bri Sullivan's penalty kick gave the Red Knights the Class 5A-District 12 title 4-3 on PKs.

Soccer Playoffs: See the schedules and analysis for boys and girls regionals

The four regional champions in each class earned an automatic berth and hone dates for the first round and then four teams received at-large berths based on their RPI rankings.

As expected, North was the top seed in the region and in the class. Mariner will travel to Braden River for a regional quarterfinal, a game which the Tritons should win.
